In the early 1900s Kajō published a number of pictorial guides to painting in a style first used by Chinese amateur painters. Flowers and birds were two of the many objects depicted in these woodblock-printed guides. This gallery shows the thirty pictures of flowers and (or) birds included in one of these guides, published in 1914 and entitled Kajō Shūgajō (i.e., Album of Picture Lessons by Kajō). Typical of painting guides, only one or a few objects were included in each picture. Click on a picture to enlarge it.
